Beehive Teams win ten bracket games at National Championship
Gulf Shores, Alabama
Our 10U, 12U-2009 and 14U Alsobrook teams played in the 2021 USSSA National Championships. After all pool games rained out on Tuesday, our 3 teams went a combined 6-0 in bracket play on Wednesday to advance deep into the winner’s bracket.
Though 10U and 12U lost 1 run heartbreakers in back to back games, these girls showed heart and grit the whole week and represented our organization to the highest!
Our 14U team was the ONLY undefeated team out of 32 teams after winning 5 straight bracket games. Due to a clerical roster error in which one of our girls who has been on our team all season was not properly entered into the USSSA database, the team that our girls beat for their 5th win protested thus forcing our girls into an elimination semifinal game. In the semifinal game our tourney run came to a conclusion by a very strong 2006 team from Chicago who our girls had beaten earlier that day. With that our girls earned a 3rd place trophy out of 32 teams from all across the country even though our girls were NEVER beaten twice.
It is the journey that matters. It is the competition that matters. Trophies gather dust but they sure are fun to strive for with everything we got.
This is what our girls are taught at Beehive. And this week epitomized just such a journey. A journey of sisters battling through the heat and the toughest competition together…as one. A journey of memories that our coaches, players and parents will carry on forever.
Beehive teams won a total of ten games during bracket play of the 2021 USSSA National Championship. Beehive 10U-Pearce won three games, including a win over the #1 overall team, Storm 2010 from Tennessee, as well as wins
against teams from Louisiana and Tusacaloosa. Beehive 10U finished 13th out of 42 teams. Beehive 12U Krueger won two games and finished 17th out of 44 teams. Beehive 14U Alsobrook won five games, including a game against the eventual national champion, that was protested due to a clerical error.
The 14U team finished third overall in the 14U Open division.
